About the author

Marian ‘Stella’ Hutchinson was born in the New Forest, Hampshire into a zany book-loving family. She grew up in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, England. At the age of eighteen she went to work for a shipping company in London, but later she won a doctoral scholarship to study maritime history at the University of Auckland. While overseas, she met her husband - a Venetian - and together they are raising twin boys. She has always loved books and history and has written fiction in several different genres. She has also written a non-fiction book called Voyages with a Merchant Prince - showcasing an original diary written on board ship by a Liverpool woman in the 1830s. When she's not writing books she likes learning new languages and making costumes for community theatre.

A message from Stella

Dear Reader,

Thank you so much for coming to visit me here - and thank you for reading one of my books! It is only when the reader’s imagination takes the words and makes the story take flight that the magic happens. I am so glad you decided to give an unknown author a chance. If you’d like to contact me directly, you can send me a message using the contact form on this website. I check it regularly. I do frequent giveaways of free ebooks, so think about who you know who enjoys historical fiction and tell them about me. You can also connect with me on Bookbub, Goodreads and Twitter. If you enjoyed my book, how about writing a quick review? The nicest thing you can do for an author you enjoy is to leave them a review - we value them immensely.

I am working on two new books at the moment - all details must stay under wraps for now, but I look forward to telling you more about them. One will be historical fiction set during World War II, and the other - something quite different. More on that soon.

Love,

Stella
